About
I'm Lawrence Lin (Yi-Ru), a software engineer based in Austin, Texas. I'm originally from Taiwan, and moved to the US to explore more of what's possible. Online I go by @linyiru.
I build developer infrastructure. These days that's SolCreek: a family of tools for shipping software you actually own, from local dev sandboxes to deploy targets to a PaaS that doesn't lock you in. Most of what I write here falls out of that work.
This blog is where I write up things I've actually built and figured out, split in two:
- Code — deep systems work: virtualization, kernels, edge runtimes, benchmarks, the hard-won details.
- Writing — the decisions behind what I'm shipping, and the long game: why owning your infrastructure beats renting it.
No ghostwritten filler, just write-ups of real work. If something here is useful, or wrong, I'd like to hear it.
